Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

As a Permanent Private Hall with a strong emphasis upon vocational study and formation, St Stephen’s House particularly welcomes applications from prospective PGCE students, including those for the new PGCE in Religious Education. Our PGCE students form a sizeable proportion of our student body (approximately twelve PGCE students a year), and are a valued group within the life of the House.

St Stephen’s House has excellent facilities for PGCE students. Accommodation is available on site for both single and married students, and there are off-road car parking facilities. The House is located close to the city centre, with good and frequent public transport.

All study bedrooms have computer terminals connected to the University Network and there is a computer room with individual workstations. There are study and locker facilities for non-resident students. The House library specialises in Theology and Religious Studies, but also has a small educational section with key PGCE texts. Students can also utilise Oxford University’s large array of facilities including libraries and sporting facilities (the University Sports Ground is located opposite the House on the Iffley Road).
